I’ve had the privilege of teaching students from all over the world — from aspiring makers to professional goldsmiths. Through years of teaching and bench work, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the specialist tools required for traditional stone setting and the challenges jewellers face in sourcing them.

Many essential tools, such as bull sticks, scorpers, pushers, and burnishers, are not readily available to buy and often need to be handmade. Drawing on my extensive experience as a goldsmith and educator, I offer a bespoke service creating custom stone setting tools crafted precisely to your requirements.

Each tool is individually handmade in my Farnham workshop using solid soft wood and high-quality tool steels. The scorpers are forged from premium Glardon Vallorbe tool steel, while the pushers and burnishers are made from robust, high-grade tool steel. This careful selection of materials ensures exceptional sharpness, control, and longevity.
